How to Pray with the Bible

Description:

If youre looking for a personal and practical way to draw the Bible more intimately into your prayer life,How to Pray with the Bibleis for you. Using Gods Word to connect with the One who loves us, Page Zyromski opens a wide variety of approaches to prayer with her anecdotes and exercises.

Since communication is a two-way street, Page encourages a posture of attentive listening. Likewise a sense of humor: If we take ourselves and our prayer life too seriously, we miss the lighter grace-notes of the divine conversation. Heroes of the Old Testament and the New come into play as role models. The stories, the gestures, the words themselves take on new meaning as we see them in the context of praying. Even boring lists of names and violent passages can be stepping stones in this invitation to use the Bible itself as a closer walk with God. By the end youll be singing a new song to the Lordand some of your phrases and verses will be 3,000 years old.
